A bold study in oud and resin, Opus XI opens with a vivid rush of aromatic marjoram before revealing a concentrated oud theme that feels leathery, balsamic and deeply textured, then settles into an intense trail of styrax and Tasmanian leatherwood. The result is powerful, modern and contemplative, true to the Library Collection’s promise of bold and unexpected scents to treasure.

Story and Positioning
Created as the eleventh chapter of Amouage’s Library Collection, Opus XI focuses on the dynamism of oud, framed by an herbal opening and a resin-rich base for a dramatic, long-lasting signature. Brand communications around launch describe it as powerful and intoxicating. Enthusiasts often compare its leathery woods impression with Gucci Guilty Absolute and similar smoky leather styles. The Library line was reshaped in 2022 around a smaller set of chapters, and Opus XI is not part of the current official lineup on the brand site.
Bottle and Design
A deep royal-blue flacon with rounded corners and a gently arched shoulder gives Opus XI a refined, book-like profile. A narrow gold plaque stamped AMOUAGE runs across the face, paired with a short cylindrical gold cap for a clean, modern crown. The bottle sits on a gold pedestal inside a patterned slipcase that reads Library Collection with Opus XI on the spine, opening like a drawer to reveal the bottle, which adds a collectible, library-inspired presentation.
