Lalique Encre Noire à l’Extrême is a brooding, woody aromatic that deepens the inky elegance of the original into a richer, smokier signature. It opens with brisk bergamot and aromatic cypress touched by resinous elemi, then swells into a powerful vetiver core burnished with incense and a soft veil of orris. The dry down lingers with balsamic benzoin, creamy sandalwood, and earthy patchouli for a contemplative trail that feels refined, confident, and distinctly masculine.
Note: The official concentration for Encre Noire à l’Extrême is Eau de Parfum rather than Eau de Toilette. It launched in 2015 and was composed by Nathalie Lorson.

Story and Positioning
À l’Extrême pushes the Encre Noire idea to its most textural and resonant form, intensifying the line’s signature cypress and vetiver with incense and resin for a dressy evening mood. It sits comfortably beside other modern masculine woods that fans often consider, including Encre Noire, Terre d’Hermès, Bentley for Men Intense, Dior Homme Intense, and La Nuit de L’Homme, yet remains unmistakably its own darkly elegant statement.
Bottle and Design
The bottle reprises the iconic cubic ink bottle silhouette inspired by René Lalique’s 1913 Encrier, rendered in deep black glass with a thick base that feels weighty in hand. Crisp white lettering and a warm accent line for the name add contrast, while the ridged square cap crowns the form for a tactile, architectural finish that looks striking on any shelf.
